Welcome to Crafted Clay. By booking and attending any session or experience at our studio, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These are designed to ensure clarity, fairness, and a positive creative experience for all.

1. General Information

Crafted Clay offers a range of pottery and ceramics-based creative experiences, including:

  • Pottery on the Wheel Sessions

  • Hand Building (Create with Clay) Sessions

  • Ceramics Painting

  • Mosaic Art

All sessions take place at our studio in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa.

2. Pricing & Additional Charges

  • Each session includes a set number of items as outlined in the session description.

  • Additional pieces or larger-than-standard items will be weighed or measured and charged accordingly. You will be advised of these costs before proceeding.

  • Custom requests requiring multiple firings or specialized glazes may incur extra charges.

3. Firing & Completion Time

  • Pottery items are typically fired within 3–4 weeks, but this timeline is subject to delays beyond our control, such as loadshedding, public holidays, or kiln maintenance.

  • Clients will be notified via email/SMS when their items are ready for collection.

4. Collection Policy

  • Once notified, clients have 30 days to collect their finished items.

  • After 30 days, uncollected items will be donated to local schools, NGOs, or discarded to make space in our studio.

  • We accept no responsibility for breakage, loss, or damage of items left beyond the collection period.

5. Client Acknowledgement of Risks

While we take every care to guide and assist our clients, the nature of ceramics involves certain risks outside of our control. Clients acknowledge and accept the following:

Clay & Kiln Limitations

  • Air bubbles, poor joining, overly thick or thin sections, and moisture retention can cause cracks or breakage during firing.

  • Color results may vary from expectations due to glaze reactions, application inconsistencies, or kiln atmosphere.

Client Responsibility

  • Clients are responsible for following instructor guidance regarding construction, glaze application, and drying.

  • We are not liable for failed or damaged items resulting from improper technique, rushed work, or failure to follow instructions.

Firing Risk Disclaimer

  • We cannot guarantee that every piece will survive the kiln-firing process.

  • Refunds or replacements will not be provided for items damaged, cracked, or lost during the firing stage.

6. Age & Supervision Policy

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

  • Our instructors are not responsible for the direct supervision of children outside of instruction time.

7. Health & Safety

  • Please wear clothes suitable for a studio environment. Aprons are provided.

  • The studio may use sharp tools, chemicals (glazes/paints), and hot equipment. Clients are expected to behave responsibly and follow all safety instructions.

  • Entry to the kiln room is strictly prohibited unless accompanied by a staff member.

8. Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds

  • Cancellations made at least 24 hours before a session will be rescheduled or credited.

  • No-shows or same-day cancellations are non-refundable.

9. Intellectual Property & Media Use

  • By attending a session, you grant us permission to photograph or record you and your artwork for marketing purposes, unless you opt out in writing.

  • You retain rights to any original designs you create, but Crafted Clay may showcase images for promotional purposes.

10. Liability Waiver

By participating in any studio activity, you agree that:

  • You understand the inherent risks involved in working with clay, glazes, and tools.

  • Crafted Clay, its owners, instructors, and employees are not liable for injury, loss, or damage to person or property during your time on the premises or during the firing process.

  • You indemnify and hold harmless the studio from any legal claims arising from your participation.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be handled in accordance with South African consumer and civil law.
